Relation Name Service .Soul

The Web3 system identifies users via complex, hard-to-memorize addresses. To mitigate this, the Relation Name Service was created, transforming user-friendly names (e.g., "relation.soul") into decentralized identifiers.

Decentralized storage supported

Complementing this, Arweave, a decentralized storage system, is utilized to expand identity properties for comprehensive profiling. Additional information can be stored on Arweave, with the transaction hash saved within the Name Service contract.

The Relation Name Service, an integral component of the Relation Protocol and an SBT itself, empowers users to manage their own social identity data. Owned by individual addresses, Name Service SBTs can exist in two states:

  • Hold: A transferable state where the SBT can't be searched or queried by name or address.

  • Resolved: Triggered by a "resolve" action, this state binds the token with Soul and the SBT's name to an address, preventing transfer.

Although multiple Name Service SBTs can be held by an address, only one can be "bound" at a time to maintain uniqueness in the social graph's recommendations and searches.
